"Spotlight Effect"

Have you ever felt like so many people noticed about something you're insecure about?

I'm sure every one of us has at least once in our lives. 

The design for this tee was largely inspired by a phenomenon called "The Spotlight Effect". This is a phenomenon which we experience when we overestimate the amount of people that notice certain aspects or characteristics of ourselves. So when we feel insecure about certain things about us, we tend to think something like, "OMG EVERYONE IS GONNA NOTICE MY ____  AND LAUGH AT ME!" When in reality, it's not much of a big deal as we fear.

It's normal to feel insecure about ourselves at times. It's part being human anyway. It’s okay to fear that you would get judged by others. So this tee is a reminder for the wearer that it's okay to have insecurities and that not everyone will notice it. Let alone, make a big deal out of it. After all, most of us are all busy being the center of our own universe. 

Breaking down the design

The figure in the middle under the "spotlight" is You, the person wearing the tee. And the surrounding figures are the people we think that notice about the things about us. As you can see from the graphic, it's like the figure under the spotlight is stuck in place, while everyone else is in motion. This is a visual representation of how it feels when you feel the “Spotlight Effect". You feel like you're under this "spotlight" and that people around you stop doing what they are doing just to look at you, perhaps even judge you. But in reality, that's not the case since we are all busy minding our own businesses. Hence, the surrounding figures around the "spotlight" is illustrated as if they are in motion, going about their own things.

So what is the overall message? IT’S ALRIGHT to be insecure about ourselves. We all have our insecurities so let's embrace it. Secondly, next time you think that people notice about your "MASSIVE pimple", bad haircut, or whatever it is that makes you insecure, just know that it's not the end of the world. Most importantly, you can be at peace because no one will really notice. At least not as many as we think in our heads.
